August 8, 9, and 10, 2008
University of Utah Institute and SL Tabernacle

Report by McCall Knowlton, Summit Co-chair
Summit
was honestly one of the most remarkable experiences of my entire life, literally miracle after miracle made it happen and I am in awe of how many people worked so hard to pull it off.

We began Friday night with 500 pizzas being delivered to the East lawn of the SLC Institute, with Traci Ostler and Kalai as phenomenal entertainment,  luckily we got the rain out of the way in the morning and the evening stayed relatively cool and breezy.  Saturday the young single adults were spell bound by the keynote speaker Anne Osborne Poelman as she related her conversion story, challenges of being a single member of the church, and extended the invitation she was given when she was investigating the gospel: 1) go into it with an open mind, 2)  know you will find a family and support system greater then you could ever imagine, and 3) you will have a stronger and more beautiful faith than you could possibly dream of (I am summarizing of course!)  YSA’s continued to workshops with dozens of acclaimed speakers and concluded the day with a carnival – mechanical bull and sumo suits included!  Sunday was an amazing to finish everything off in the tabernacle and have Steve Young and Elder Wirthlin give all of us YSA’s the extra boost we need to remain faithful and endure to the end.

The greatest thing I have learned from all of this is that there is always hope – hope for inactive YSA’S, hope in the gospel, hope that all will work out, hope in miracles, and hope in life!

SOME COMMENTS ABOUT THE SUMMIT...

"Just in my own little ward it made a HUGE difference.
Every time I turned around someone was telling me how much they loved it and what an amazing experience it was for them and just how much fun they had."

"The SUMMIT experience has changed my life and
increased my testimony so much.  It will be an experience I will never forget.  It has changed me for the good!"

"When he (Steve Young) spoke about his doubts….as he got older and older….and still was not married…I know it was the same feeling of many in the audience who are going through the same doubts."

"The workshops were great, the carnival and dance were fabulous, the choir was inspiring, and the remarks by Steve Young were the perfect culmination of the three day event."
